|
|
Project summary:
The objective of the scoping exercise was the identification of the critical challenges to the EU food legislative framework, their future evolution (2020, 2030 and 2050), their impacts on its current structure and the potential critical changes to the current framework necessary to maintain the prevailing high standards. The TOR emphasised that the intention is to provide insight and guidance for the development of future policy response scenarios and future analysis and research necessary for their development. Key questions to be addressed were: (1) What are the main challenges to Food Safety/Nutrition in the global food system? (2) What are the main scenarios for the evolution of these challenges in 2020, 2030 and 2050? (3) What are the driving forces/main factors impacting EU Food Safety/Nutrition under the various scenarios? (4) What aspect of the EU Food Safety/Nutrition policy would be impacted by those challenges and what changes would be necessary to adapt the current framework to address those challenges? (5) Which areas is further research needed in to provide a basis for an appropriate EU policy response to these scenarios?
