Evaluation of the EU rapid response network, crisis management and communication capacity regarding certain animal diseases

Project summary:
The main objective of this project was to evaluate the relevance and the effectiveness of the implementation by Member States of Contingency Plans, the added value of the current Commission procedures for animal disease outbreaks, the communication capacity of the Commission and MS and the involvement of stakeholders. The evaluation, which also covered animal welfare issues, assessed the rapidity of the responsiveness of the EU network as a whole in the event of outbreaks and identified aspects and policy options for the improvement of the EU animal health emergency system.
